West Aurora 2, Hinsdale South 1

West Aurora has suffered its share of disappointing late losses this season, so winning with a score in the final minutes is gladly accepted.

And that's just what happened for the Blackhawks when they played host to Hinsdale South for a nonconference match on Thursday in Aurora.

Josue Martinez got the game-winner in the 76th minute, off an assist from Cesar Garcia, as West (14-5) rallied from a 1-0 halftime deficit.

Martinez, who also scored the game-winner in the late stages of last Saturday's 2-1 victory at Romeoville, assisted on his team's other goal.

Mario Alvarez tied things up at 1-1 when he scored on a breakaway that was set up by a pass from Martinez in the 59th minute.

Able Diaz went the distance in goal and recorded five saves for the Blackhawks, who host Bolingbrook on Saturday for a noon match.

TJ Kubiesa scored a goal in the 19th minute for the Hornets, who play at Glenbard North on Saturday in a match scheduled for 11 a.m.

Crystal Lake South 4, Elgin 2

The Gators extended their unbeaten streak to 16 matches following Thursday's nonconference win over the Maroons in Crystal Lake.

Charlie Oliver led CL South (16-1-2) by collecting another hat trick and he also handed out an assist on his team's other score.

CL South, which is 15-0-1 during its current streak, was in a 1-1 tie at halftime before pulling away during the final 40 minutes.

Javas Singh assisted on Oliver's first goal, Alex Tapia helped out on his second tally and Miguel Loera scored CLS's third goal.

Dave Walsh recorded eight saves for the Gators, who play at McHenry on Tuesday before hosting Prairie Ridge in a Thursday match.

Wheaton Academy 7, Chicago Christian 0

Stephen Fernandes and Casey Zimmerman each scored two goals to lead the Warriors to Thursday's Suburban Christian Conference home win.

The Warriors (9-4-1, 6-1) only led 1-0 at the intermission but broke things open by scoring six more times during the final 40 minutes.

Devin Moore, Brian McLean and Colton Seager also added goals for WA, which plays in the Mid-State Classic in Schaumburg this weekend.

Andrew Leutkehans chipped in with three assists, Doug Coons had a pair of assists and Josh Urban and William West also set up scores.

Jesse Carmody posted the shutout by recording two saves for the Warriors, who close out SCC play against Marmion Academy on Wednesday.

Barrington 1, Schaumburg 0

The Broncos moved into a first place tie with Fremd atop the Mid Suburban League West standings following Thursday's win over the Saxons.

Barrington and Fremd are now both 6-2 in league play while Conant dropped to 6-3 after falling 3-2 in double overtime to Rolling Meadows.

It was the fifth straight victory for the Broncos (9-6-2), who play host to Prospect on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in their homecoming match.

Nikko Maher scored the lone goal, thanks to an assist from Laase Haataja, while Will Cotopolis posted the shutout in goal for Barrington.

The Broncos, who have won eight of their last nine matches, entertain Wheeling on Tuesday and then travel to Rolling Meadows on Thursday.

Oswego 2, Plainfield South 0

The Panthers set the stage for Monday's Southwest Prairie Conference first-place showdown following Thursday's home win over the Cougars.

Oswego (6-6-1, 5-0) hosts Plainfield Central at 4:30 p.m. on Monday with the winner having the inside track on claiming the league title.

Kyle Kearby got the Panthers' first goal on a 60-yard free kick and Eddie Duran closed the scoring when he connected in the final seconds.

The Panthers, who moved to the .500 mark for the first time this season, have now captured victories in five of their last six matches.

Luis Gallardo recorded nine saves to post his fifth shutout for Oswego, which entertains Marmion Academy on Saturday in a 10 a.m. match.
